Your Burning Questions Answered

Yes, we offer all new students a 2-week trial period in which you are welcome to try any of our programs and classes! All you need to do is fill out our general waiver form at the front desk. Let us know when you are planning on coming in by requesting a trial class through our online scheduler!

No, we do not require a contract for memberships. You may cancel your membership at any time with a 30 day notice. The only fees associated with memberships are for purchasing Gi’s and other training gear that is required for specific programs.

No, we do not require automatic payments for memberships, although they are highly encouraged as it saves both you and us time! Auto-payments can be turned on and off at will, so you are encouraged to give it a try. Non- auto-payment memberships will be subject to a 5% monthly processing fee.

Yes, you may enroll in memberships on our website under “MEMBERSHIPS” > “JOIN”. However, families with multiple memberships should enroll with a staff member in-house. Comfortable gym clothes are good for all of the classes to start with. If you or your child are doing a class that requires a GI (BJJ or Karate) there are loaner Gi’s available during your trial period, until you get your own. Please wear compression shorts or pants underneath loose fitting shorts in BJJ classes.

Yes, we do have some loaner equipment available to new students including gloves, shin guards, and headgear. For contact classes such as MMA or BJJ, a mouthguard and cup are always recommended. In MMA, you may not spar without a mouthguard.

We understand many kids do not like wearing a full karate Gi during class. However, it is a requirement to wear Tokyo Joe’s or Team Link clothing, including a GI or a Karate t-shirt with Karate shorts or Gi bottoms. These are available for purchase in our pro-shop. Your rank belt is always required. Please note, on Graduation day all students must be in their full Gi in order to be promoted.

Typically, you are able to keep your rank depending on the style and amount of time off. We assess this on a case-by-case basis.

Most of our classes are open classes, which new students are welcome to attend. However, for Adult BJJ we recommend new students attend (30) BJJ Fundamentals classes before only attending regular classes to ensure you are learning the fundamental principles of BJJ. Kids karate classes will vary in difficulty of workouts, although material covered will be adjusted to students in class. Tokyo Joe’s and Team Link always accommodate new students and make them feel welcome. If necessary, instructors or more experienced students will work with new students on an individual basis to cover basic material. Private lessons are available.

Yes, this is $15 per day. This fee may be paid through our Zen Planner App, website, or at the front desk.
